El español es una lengua romance que evolucionó del latín vulgar traído a la Península Ibérica por los romanos. Durante siglos, ha sido influenciada por el árabe, el francés y las lenguas indígenas americanas tras la colonización. En la Edad Media surgieron los primeros textos literarios en castellano, y durante el Siglo de Oro se consolidó la literatura española con escritores como Cervantes. En los siglos XIX y XX, el español se estandarizó y se convirtió en lengua de educación, administración y comunicación global. Hoy, el español se habla en España, América Latina y otras regiones, manteniendo una rica tradición literaria y cultural.
Հայերենը հայ ժողովրդի լեզուն է, որը պատկանում է հնդեվրոպական լեզվաընտանեկան խմբին: Հայերենն ունի հազարամյակների պատմություն՝ սկսած հին հայոց լեզվից, որը օգտագործվել է գրավոր տարբեր արձանագրություններում և պատմական փաստաթղթերում: Մ.թ.ա. 5–4-րդ դարերում ձևավորվեց պատմական հայկական գրավոր համակարգը՝ ստեղծելով հայկական այբուբենը Մեսրոպ Մաշտոցի կողմից 405 թվականին: Հայերենը պատմության ընթացքում ներծծել է տարբեր հարևան լեզուների ազդեցությունը, ինչպիսիք են պարսկերենը և արաբերենը, սակայն պահպանել է իր ինքնուրույն կառուցվածքը և բառապաշարը: Սկզբից գոյություն ունեցած արևմտահայ և արևելահայ խոսակցական տարբերակները հետագայում սերտաճեցին գրավոր լեզվի միջոցով: Այսօր հայերենը խոսվում է հիմնականում Հայաստանում և սփյուռքում, և շարունակում է ունենալ կարևոր դեր կրթության, մշակույթի և պետական կառավարման մեջ:
